A family tradition of trust and integrity

Boomer Equine Insurance delivers personal service, expert guidance and bloodstock insurance that is clear and built on trust

At Boomer Equine Insurance, we make horse insurance straightforward, reliable, and built around real experience.

This isn’t just another insurance company.

We have come from inside the industry from the sales ring, the foaling paddock and the racetrack, and we have built a business that reflects what matters to owners, breeders, trainers and agents.

Led by Craig Rounsefell, our knowledgeable team brings a practical and commercial mindset to insurance. We understand horses and the business behind them, and we work closely with every client to make sure they have got the right cover tailored for them.

John Rounsefell brings decades of insurance experience and long-standing, respected relationships in the bloodstock world. Helen Boyes adds hands-on understanding from on-farm stud management and working as a Veterinary Nurse within the Scone Equine Group.

We are not trying to be the biggest, we are here to do it properly with advice you can trust, cover that makes sense and a team who anticipates the next step.

Yes, horses can suffer accidents or illness at any time. Bloodstock insurance protects your investment year-round, regardless of whether your horse is racing, spelling, breeding, or being prepared for sale.

Absolutely. Syndicates, partnerships, and co-ownership structures can all be insured. We’ll work with you to ensure the policy reflects your share of the ownership and any specific requirements related to your agreement.

While not mandatory, insurance is highly recommended. International travel comes with increased risk due to quarantine, flight logistics, and unfamiliar environments. We offer personalised transit insurance to cover your horse before, during, and after travel.

Typically, we use the horse’s recent purchase price, market value, or valuation provided by a recognised bloodstock agent. In the case of stallions or broodmares, additional factors such as breeding performance or progeny results may apply.

We’re here to support you through the process. Simply contact us as soon as possible — we’ll walk you through the steps, liaise with your vet where needed, and handle the paperwork efficiently and professionally.

Yes! That is exactly what we specialise in. We offer clarity around policy extensions designed to suit your horse’s profile, your business goals, and your tolerance to risk.
